Alarming Signs for Newborn Babies

Need to contact your doctor if your baby has

  • Temprature under 97.8F(36.6C) or over 100.4F(38C)
  • Unusual crying high-pitched shrieks of pain
  • Forceful Vomiting more forceful than spitting that normally happens after feedings
  • Diaarhea 6-8 greenish watery stools in 24 hours
  • No wet diapers in 12 hours
  • Hard Tummy feels tight and swollen
  • Refusal to take feed for 2 or more in a row
  • Bluish Skin When baby is calm and warm
  • Yellowish Skin and eye color indicates jaundice. Consult your doctor, your baby may reqire phototherapy. Every newborn develops jaundice but the degree of jaundice varies from one newborn to other.
  • Sleepiness too sleepy to eat, less activity than usual, or a very limp floppy body.
  • Very Fast or very slow breathing either very fast(more than 60 breaths per minute) or very heavy breathing
  • Red, infected area around the umbilical cord or circumcised penis, with whitish, bad smelling pus.
  • Thrush, a common yeast infection that looks like white patches inside the mouth.
