You will be amazed to know how your baby develops in every passing week of the pregnancy. Learn about the changes taking place in mother's body and the growing baby.

Your placenta now maintains your pregnancy and now has completely taken over hormone production from ovaries. You will be excited to see the small bump developing as your uterus moves into abdomen. For most of the women, feeling of being sick and tiredness starts subsiding This is begining of honeymoon phase of pregnancy where you are most comfortable. By the end of week 13, Your baby now measures 7.0 cm, Your baby,s arms and legs move independently and it can turn its head from side to side.Your baby has begun to practice swallowing by taking in the surrounding amniotic fluid and passing it back into the amniotic sac through his urine.

You may notice the appearance of a dark line down the middle of your abdomen. This is called the "linea negra." The areola (the dark part of your nipple area) may have gotten darker and larger. This is normal as your body readies itself for breastfeeding. Your uterus is the size of a large grapefruit and is growing out of your pelvis area. Your baby now measures 7.0-9cm and weighs 25.5-28.4g.This is the time when, Downyhair, called lanugo, is begining to grow over its entire body to protect the skin, however will start to dissappearin the few weeks before birth. The eyelids, fingernails and toenails are begining to form.The muscles are developing allowing baby to make stronger movements.

During this period you may develop a facial pigmentation known as Chlosma, which will disappear after the baby is born. If you plan on doing an amniocentesis (a test that can indicate any abnormalities in the baby) you should schedule it now as these are normally done between 16 and 18 weeks. Your baby now measures 9-11cm and weighs 35-40g. The skeleton continue to develop and is getting harder now, transforming from soft cartilage to bone.your baby's blood is beginning to form in the bone marrow and blood vessels can be seen through its paper thin skin.

The amount of amniotic fluid and the size of uterus is increasing. You may feel a fluttering in your stomach, it is the movement of your baby. It is also referred as "quickening". Most women notice this 'quickening' between 16 and 20 weeks. Don't worry yourself for early movements, you will feel them in coming weeks. Your baby is now about 10-12 cm in length and weighs about 78-83 g.The umbilical cord id growing stronger and thicker to carry nutrients to the baby.you baby head is erect and legs are developed to kick actively. If your baby is female, her ovaries develop millions of eggs during this time.
