Pregnancy Week 9

Mother
Baby
Even if you still look the same on the outside, making a baby is hard work. and you could find yourself even more tired now then before. Your blood pressure tends to decline, and you may feel dizzy or lightheaded.Your facial appearance becomes fuller due to odema, which is due to the retention of more fluid. By the end of week 9, Your baby finally looks like a tiny human, and is approximately 13-17mm, or about 0.51-0.66 inches in length. The arms and legs are obvious on ultrasound. The baby is able to make small movements. At this point, he weighs approximately 1-1.5 grams.

Week10

At this stage, the risk of miscarriage becomes very low. But at the same time, you have to prepare yourself for tests ahead to check any structural or chromosomal abnormality in the baby. NT Plus(nuchal transluency with a blood test) is the first intial test to be recommended for every age group women. It can be follwed by either a CVS or amniocentesis depending upon various factors such as mother's age or any abnormal pregnancy history. Your baby's body systems, such as circulatory, nervous, reproductive and digestive, are fully formed during this time. The baby is growing fast and is now approximately 27 - 35 mm or 1.06 - 1.38 inches with 1/2 of that length being attributed to the head. The cord from the placenta to the fetal umbilical region is visible now.

Week11

You might be getting your appetite back as your morning sickness subsides but certain foods or smells may still make you nauseated. You may also start feeeling cravings for particular food. The theory is that your body craves nutrients it may be lacking, most commonly vitamin C, iron, and salt. By this week, your uterus can be felt in your lower abdomen, above the middle of our pubic bone. Your baby is now about 4.4 cm (1.7)inches in length.Your baby's head is still about 1/2 of his body length, and will remain this way for a while. The baby's eyelids are fused now and the irises are developing. Your baby will also begin to get baby teeth, fingernails, toenails and hair follicles this week.

Week12

Your uterus is too large to remain in your pelvis so it starts to push out above your pelvic bone. An ultrasound this week determine no. of babies, the position of placenta, volume of amniotic fluid and the size of nuchel transluency. The NT(nuchel transluency) is the measurement of the soft tissues thickness on the back of the baby's neck. In abnormal conditions NT tends to be greater. Your baby is now about 5.6 cm or2.2-2.5 inches in length. Your baby's heart begins pumping several quarts of blood through your baby's body every day.External genitalia show distinct signs of male or female characteristics. With the use of a Doppler, you might be able to hear your baby's heart beat at your next doctor's office visit.
